Killa: Pindan to Plate
Presented by Perth Festival, 2025
Killa: Pindan to Plate was an immersive dining and storytelling experience presented as part of Perth Festival 2025, celebrating Indigenous knowledge, food systems, and connection to Country. The work brought together cuisine, performance, and moving image to create a multi-sensory environment grounded in cultural narrative and place.
I was engaged to edit the video content and design the audiovisual layout for the experience, shaping how moving image and sound unfolded within the dining space. Working closely with the creative team, I developed a spatial AV design that responded to the rhythm of the meal, supporting moments of reflection, ceremony, and conversation without overpowering the intimacy of the shared table.
In ways it was mean to shock, but also create awareness of that connection to food and to living creatures that result in the meal on our plate, through a first nations lens of Kimberley traditions and quinine.
The video works combined documentary footage, landscape imagery, and story-led pacing, integrated across multiple projection surfaces to envelop the audience and extend the narrative beyond the plate. Through careful sequencing and placement, the AV became a connective tissue between food, story, and environment, reinforcing the experience’s focus on reciprocity, seasonality, and respect for Country.
